Sinazongwe District

Since 1990, Sinazongwe has existed as a district, having split off from Gwembe. Since then, Sinazongwe Town Council has worked with all district stakeholders to provide services and has achieved significant progress in enhancing the quality of life for its residents. Based on a predicted growth rate of 2.2, Sinazongwe’s population is estimated to be 129,894 as of 2020. By 2030, that number is likely to rise to 159,333. It is located in the Zambezi Valley bordering Lake Kariba on Zambia’s southeast border. Four districts share its boundaries: Choma and Pemba in the west, Gwembe in the north-east, Zimbabwe in the south-east, and Zimba and Kalomo in the south-west. There is just one constituency in the district, namely Sinazongwe, which consists of sixteen (16) wards.

 

The following are some of the functions of the Local Authority; solid waste management, land administration and management, creation and maintenance of township roads, Community development, issuing trading licenses and markets, among others.
