Sinazongwe Town Council has been a District since 1990, which branched off from Gwembe District. From that time the District has made stride to improve the lives of its community through the provision of services and working together with all stakeholders within the District. The District has one constituency called Sinazongwe, constituting sixteen (16) wards. The following are some of the functions of the Local Authority; solid waste management, land administration and management, creation and maintenance of township roads, Community development, issuing trading licenses and markets, among others.

Hard work: Work intelligently and vigorously to provide social services with maximum efficiency
Time Management: The council will provide effective and sustainable service delivery to the citizens of Sinazongwe through promotion of community in the development of the district.
Transparency: Act visibly, predictably and understandably to promote participation and accountability.
Accountability: To be responsible for our actions and for the utilization of resources as we strive to provide quality services to the general public.
Team work: Involve stakeholders in the developmental matters while maintaining good and sound working relationships within our institution and with members of the public.
Integrity: Uphold acceptable morals and professionalism in our quest to provide quality services to the people who live, work and conduct business in Sinazongwe.
Impartiality: Uphold fairness and justice in the distribution of public resources and accord equitable opportunities to both members of the public and Council officials.
Efficiency: Proper use of public resources. This is a trust which we will continually guard. In our management of public funds, we will constantly strive for the greatest possible efficiency and strive to serve the public in a cost effective manner.
Wisdom: Use the vast knowledge gained from life experiences of our community leaders to make the right choices and accept advice.
